Hectic schedule and work overnight makes our eyes look tired and dull. This seems very frustrating to go to an event or office with tired looking eyes. Even a good makeup is not able to hide such tired eyes. It leads to dark circles underneath as well as puffy eyes. 

Yet you can make yourself ready with beautiful and fresh looking eyes for the next day with some easy home remedies to get rid of tired eyes.

Wash your eyes:
The eyes look tired because of not proper hydration to eyes. Make a routine of washing the eyes every morning and evening. This will reduce the daily tiredness of eyes.
Keep yourself hydrated:
Dehydration cause loose of water from the body and it makes the entire body look dull including eyes. So keep yourself hydrated and try to drink one glass of water every hour.
Take a proper Sleep:
When we give proper rest to our eyes they naturally look fresh and cool. Taking sleep less than 6 hours may make the eyes tired and puffy. So try to take optimum sleep of 6 to 8 hours.
Blink your eyes regularly:
Sitting in front of laptop or computer makes our eyes look tired. Blinking makes the eye fluid spread in eyes and refreshes them. So blink eyes in every 30 seconds.
Wear sunglasses:
You may protect your eyes from the drowsiness and harmful UV rays by wearing the sunglasses. Some sunglasses have the cooling effects in them. So, wear sun glasses when you are out in the Sun.

Home Remedies to Get Rid of Tired Eyes


Vitamin C present in cucumber makes it a wonderful home remedy to curb the tiredness of eyes. Take two slices of cucumber and place them in eyes for about 20 minutes. Enjoy the coolness and relief of it. Cucumber is very helpful in removing under eye dark circles.


You drink milk. It’s good for health. But it work magically for refreshing the eyes. The lactic acid in milk helps in removing the tiredness of eyes. Dip the cotton balls in cold milk and put it on closed eyes. You will feel relief.


  • Potato contains starch which is helpful in reducing under eyes dark circles, puffiness and tiredness of eyes.
  • Put the thin slices of potato on the eyelids for about 20 minutes and repeat the process for 3-4 times a day.
  • Peel off potato and grind it. Cover the paste with cloth and put it on the eyes. 

Tea bags:

Tea bags contain tannin in them which does well in making the eyes feel fresh. So rinse the tea bag in water and settle it in the closed eyes. The herbal properties of tea bag make the eye feel fresh. Green tea bags are recommended.

Chilled spoons:

This home remedy will give relax to your blood vessels of eyes and well as tighten your skin. Chill the spoons in refrigerator for about 20 minutes and then put them under eye for about 20 minutes. Repeat the process for 3-4 times.

Vitamin E oil:

Vitamin oil is very good in helping you from the tired eyes. Massage your eyelids and underneath eyes with vitamin oil. You will feel fresh.

Egg white:

Take the white from the egg and beat it well to form the paste. Apply the paste on eyelids for 10 minutes and then wash the face. This will help in tighten the eye skin and prevent from wrinkles.

Rose water:

Rose water has inflammatory properties in it. To get rid of tired and dull eyes use cotton balls dipped in rose water and put it on closed eyes. This is very soothing and refreshing to eyes.
